A clear path from business question to practical work

How we work

Introduction

We define the problem before choosing the solution. Each stage makes the reasoning, expected output and next decision visible, so the work stays connected to the business need.

01 / 05

Understand the question

We establish what the business is trying to change, who is affected and how the problem appears in daily work. We identify the information available, the constraints and the decisions that need to be made.

Output:

a problem statement, a scoped question and an agreed basis for judging progress.

Reasoning in this stage
Business need
What is the business trying to change?
People
Who is affected in daily work?
Constraints
What information and constraints shape the question?
02 / 05

Examine the evidence

We trace relevant records, workflows, rules and system behavior. We separate observed problems from assumptions and identify gaps that could change the proposed approach.

Output:

a current state analysis, key findings and questions requiring resolution.

Reasoning in this stage
Records
Trace relevant records and available information.
Workflows
Examine workflows, rules and system behavior.
Findings
Separate observations from assumptions and unresolved questions.
03 / 05

Design the approach

We develop options and explain their implications for the business. Financial logic, data, people and technology are considered together so the recommended design can be examined before implementation.

Output:

a proposed process or system design, responsibilities and an implementation scope.

Reasoning in this stage
Options
Develop options and explain their business implications.
Considerations
Consider financial logic, data, people and technology together.
Scope
Define the proposed design, responsibilities and implementation scope.
04 / 05

Build and test

Where implementation is included, we translate the design into working processes, systems or tools. We test normal work and exceptions, record issues and prepare the documentation needed for handover.

Output:

the agreed implementation, test evidence and operating documentation.

Reasoning in this stage
Build
Translate the agreed design into working processes, systems or tools.
Test
Test normal work and exceptions, and record issues.
Handover
Prepare test evidence and operating documentation.
05 / 05

Review and improve

We compare the result with the agreed purpose and identify what still needs attention. Ongoing support or further development is defined according to the work, rather than assumed to be part of every engagement.

Output:

a review of the delivered scope and a defined next step.

Reasoning in this stage
Purpose
Compare the delivered scope with the agreed purpose.
Review
Identify what still needs attention.
Next decision
Define ongoing support or further development according to the work.

Starting the conversation

You do not need a finished specification to begin. A clear description of the problem, its context and the decision you need to make gives us a useful starting point.

Discuss a Challenge

Start a conversation

Let’s understand the challenge.

Tell us what your business is trying to improve, where the difficulty appears and what a useful outcome would look like.
